Taking Steps to Protect Outgoing Mail from Theft

Dear Abbottsford Residents,

I am writing to address an important concern that affects the security of our community members—mailbox theft of outgoing mail. In light of recent incidents reported in and around the Green Hills area, I would like to share some valuable information and practical suggestions to help mitigate this issue. Reminder: These mail thieves are looking for outgoing checks and personal information.

To safeguard your personal information and sensitive documents, it is advisable to explore alternative methods of sending important materials whenever feasible. The utilization of online services and secure email platforms offers a more secure way to transmit confidential information.

In cases where traditional mail is the only option, I strongly recommend avoiding leaving outgoing mail in personal mailboxes. Instead, consider dropping off your outgoing mail directly at a local post office. This approach significantly reduces the amount of time our mail spends unattended and minimizes the risk of theft.

Maintaining a vigilant eye on any suspicious activity around our mailboxes and within our community is paramount. If you observe any unusual behavior or suspect theft-related incidents, I encourage you to report them immediately to the local authorities and the On-site Manager. By promptly addressing these concerns, we contribute to the collective effort of enhancing the security and well-being of our community.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Together, by implementing these simple measures, we can protect ourselves and hopefully foster a safer environment within our community.
